TUFC U13 Girls Play Tough without Subs

February 16-17, 2008, Gainesville, FL - The TUFC U13 Girls showed up in Gainesville Saturday morning ready to go with thirteen players.  After one half of play, the injury bug hit and the team was down to eleven.  Brady Kidd & Jackie Sirianni where both unable to play due to foot and ankle injuries.  Without subs, the team played hard and shut-out Central Brevard to end game one with a 0-0 tie.  Later that afternoon, as the temperatures creeped into the high 70’s, the girls took on the Coral Springs Renegades.  The game was a fierce battle that ended with one yellow card (congrats to Chelsea Hacker) and another 0-0 tie.  On Sunday the girls squared off against the Lady Cannons from north Georgia.  In order to qualify for the championship, the girls needed to win by two goals.  The game started out slow until the Lady Cannons accidentally tapped in a goal off a corner kick.  Early in the second half, the Lady Cannons added a second goal to take a 2-0 lead.  Knowing they needed to win by two and without any subs, the TUFC girls never gave up!  Finally, the girls punched in their first goal of the tournament, when Reanna Leoni scored on a beautiful shot.  The momentum was now in favor of TUFC and the fight was intensifying until the refs called for a water break.  After the break, the Lady Cannons snuck another goal in and the momentum shifted back to the Cannons.  The TUFC girls played hard until the final whistle, but the two goal deficit proved to be too much and the Cannons won, 3-1.  In all, the girls played extremely well and stuck together as a TEAM.
